Now the adventure documentary Beyond Tingri is released, a Swedish-Napalese co-production following the Swedish adventurer Robin Trygg’s journey to climb Mount Everest, that was covered by media during in 2015-2016. Together with his close friend Chirring dorje Sherpa, Trygg headed out to Himalaya, but they found themselves caught in the middle of a dreadful earthquake changing their lives forever. Beyond Tingri will premiere in cinemas in Sweden on June 10, 2022, followed by a release on digital platforms. SF Studios handles Nordic distribution.

In 2011, Robin Trygg became the youngest Swede to climb the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest. There he witnessed with his own eyes the long queues of climbers who have become an increasingly common death trap on the mountain. The young adventurer then got a bold idea; to return and try to climb Mount Everest by bypassing the other mountain climbers and the life-threatening queues. The idea would also make him the first Swede since Göran Kropp to have reached the Mount Everest top twice, but instead Robin and his friend Chhiring dorje Sherpa ended up in the middle of a terrible earthquake that claimed almost 9000 lives and changed Robin's view of his previous choices in life.

“It became a different type of mountain to climb. Everything I bet was lost in a few seconds. Years of preparation. But I was lucky to survive. What happened is the most terrible thing I have been through and came to change my life forever ", says Robin Trygg.

Beyond Tingri is a personal story and an intimate film about Robin Trygg, about unconditional friendship, questioning himself and what is really worth sacrificing to fulfill the biggest dreams.

"We are pleased to be able to take this strong story and gripping adventure documentary from the Himalayas to the Swedish cinema audience," says Pia Grünler, Head of Theatrical Distribution at SF Studios.

The film is directed by Peter Svensson. In addition to Robin Trygg and Chhiring, Dorje Sherpa, who has climbed Everest 16 times, also stars in the film, including Oskar Kihlborg, who was one of the first two Swedes to climb Everest in 1990.
