Today, SF Studios announces that award-winning producer Jon Nohrstedt has been appointed as new Head of Film Production in Sweden. Nohrstedt has been a producer at SF Studios since 2011 and will in his new role lead the development and execution of the Swedish slate for feature films, building on SF Studios’ strong legacy.

"We are extremely excited that Jon is taking on this important role, which will be crucial for SF Studios' growth ambitions and continued focus on Swedish feature films. Jon's track record speaks for itself, but what really makes him a perfect match for this role is his leadership qualities, his deep expertise in all aspects of film production as well as being an all-round great human being”, says Tim King, EVP Production at SF Studios.

Jon has extensive experience in Swedish film production and has produced many of SF Studios' most successful films in recent years, such as Borg/McEnroe (2017), the Bamse films (2014-2018), Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent (2020), Nelly Rapp – The Secret of The Black Forest (2023) and Pelle No-Tail (2020). In 2020, Jon received the honorary award “Gullspiran” for his contributions to Swedish children’s films at the Guldbagge Gala (the Swedish Oscars). The Bamse films are considered the most successful animated film series in Sweden ever, with over one million cinema visitors. Jon was also nominated for a Guldbagge award for Best Film as a producer for Borg/McEnroe (2017) and was appointed to represent Sweden as Producer on the Move in Cannes 2019.

"I look very much forward to get this opportunity to, together with all the fantastic colleagues at SF Studios, entertain and touch audiences through our films. SF Studios has a long tradition of filmmaking, and I am proud to have been asked to lead and develop the Swedish film production and to be a part of that film tradition," says Jon Nohrstedt.

In recent years, SF Studios' production operations have experienced strong growth with Swedish film productions such as The Emigrants, Burn All My Letters, A Christmas Tale, Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent, JerryMaya’s Detective Agency – The Secret of the Train Robber, Pelle No-Tail, Mamma Moo Finds Her Way Home and the thriller Red Dot. In 2023, SF Studios has a strong line-up of coming releases with the youth film Forever, the disaster film The Abyss, a second Mamma Moo film and the action comedy The Final Race.

Jon Nohrstedt will assume his new position in April 2023.
