Danish box office hit Kingmaker gets a sequel with the Film Adaptation of Fandens Forår
The Danish box office hit Kingmaker (Danish title: Mørkeland), which has just surpassed 220,000 tickets sold, will now have a sequel in the film series that started 20 years ago with Kongekabale. Meta Film has officially announced that plans for another film adaptation of Niels Krause-Kjær's bestselling novels, Fandens forår, are already well underway, with Mikkel Serup as director and Nikolaj Arcel as screenwriter. Lisa Langseth’s new film The Dance Club has started shooting
The internationally acclaimed director Lisa Langseth's new Swedish feature film The Dance Club has now begun filming. The lead roles are played by Nils Wetterholm and Alva Bratt with Pernilla August, Evelyn Mok, Matias Varela and Julia Franzén in the ensemble. The movie is set to premiere in Swedish cinemas in early fall 2025. Meta Film produces the film with SF Studios distributing the film in the Nordics. REinvent handles international sales.

SF Studios and REinvent boards major motion picture adaptation of Kalevala
Kalevala: The Story of Kullervo, based on Finland’s national epic “Kalevala”, is set to start its principal shooting in Nurmes, North Karelia, Finland in September. Antti J. Jokinen will direct the historical drama with Elias Salonen and Eero Aho starring as leads. Johanna Enäsuo and Marko Röhr, at ReelMedia, produce the film. SF Studios distributes the film in the Nordics with an expected theatrical release in Finnish theatres in early 2026. REinvent handles international sales.

Quisling - The Final Days to have its international premiere at Toronto International Film Festival
Director Erik Poppe's Quisling - The Final Days will have its international premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in early September. The film, produced by SF Studios' Norwegian production company Paradox, will have its theatrical premiere on September 13 in Norway. Watch the trailer here.

SF Studios and Warner Bros Discovery have signed a new content partnership agreement that gives WBD’s streaming service Max´s subscribers in the Nordics the opportunity to be the first to stream SF Studios’ local and international distribution titles, after the films have been shown at the cinema and offered as purchase and rental films.

Kaly Halkawt becomes the first recipient of The Ingmar Bergman Script Award
At the closing ceremony of the 20th edition of Bergman Week at Fårö in Sweden, it was announced that Kaly Halkawt is the first recipient of the newly established Ingmar Bergman Script Award, a collaboration between SF Studios and the Bergman Center, for her feature film script Donia's World (Swedish title: Donias värld). The award aims to encourage emerging filmmakers and screenwriters to write scripts for feature films with high artistic ambitions, aiming to reach a broad audience.
