SF Studios announces the Final Installment in the Nelly Rapp Trilogy, Premiering in 2026
SF Studios has now announced that the third and final film of the popular Nelly Rapp trilogy, based on Martin Widmark’s beloved books, will premiere in 2026. Nelly Rapp – The Gate to the Underworld picks up where the previous film left off, once again following Matilda Gross as the popular monster agent. Johan Rosell returns as director, with a screenplay by Sofie and Tove Forsman. Jonathan Ridings and Niklas Larsson are producing for SF Studios, which is also distributing the film. Filming is set to begin in October 2025, and audiences can look forward to its theatrical release in 2026. REinvent handles international sales.
When Nelly Rapp reunites with her mother, Alice, she learns that a terrible danger is lurking. An ancient vampire has broken free and plans to open the gateway to the underworld—where a long-dormant evil is waiting to be unleashed. With Valle, London, and Alice by her side, Nelly must stop the vampire before disaster strikes. But are they ready to face the shadows of the past and the power that threatens to destroy everything? Nelly Rapp – The Gate to the Underworld is a spectacular and thrilling adventure where the line between good and evil becomes blurred.
Matilda Gross returns in the lead role, having made her film debut in the first Nelly Rapp movie. She is joined by both new and familiar faces in her battle against evil. The film is directed by Johan Rosell (Nelly Rapp – The Secret of the Black Forest), with a screenplay by sisters Sofie and Tove Forsman (Young Royals), based on the popular Nelly Rapp books by Martin Widmark, illustrated by Christina Alvner and Emil Maxén.

The previous two films—Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent and Nelly Rapp – The Secret of the Black Forest—were both box office successes, with a combined audience of 260,000 in Swedish cinemas.

Nelly Rapp – The Gate to the Underworld is SF Studios’ third Nelly Rapp-film. The producers are Jonathan Ridings and Niklas Larsson, with Larsson previously producing the successful Nelly Rapp-films, while Ridings has also produced the popular JerryMaya’s Detective Agency-films and Burn All My Letters. Executive producer for SF Studios is Jon Nohrstedt.

SF Studios receives six Jussi Award nominations

SF Studios has acquired the Nordic distribution rights for The Entertainment System is Down, the highly anticipated new feature film by two-time Palme d’Or-winning director Ruben Östlund (The Square, Triangle of Sadness). With a star-studded ensemble, the film promises to deliver Östlund’s signature blend of sharp social commentary and compelling storytelling. Östlund serves as the film’s director and screenwriter with Erik Hemmendorff producing for Plattform Produktion. SF Studios is looking forward to once again collaborating with Plattform Produktion and Ruben Östlund after the success of films such as Involuntary (2008), Play (2011) and Triangle of Sadness (2022). Danish box office hit Kingmaker gets a sequel with the Film Adaptation of Fandens Forår
The Danish box office hit Kingmaker (Danish title: Mørkeland), which has just surpassed 220,000 tickets sold, will now have a sequel in the film series that started 20 years ago with Kongekabale. Meta Film has officially announced that plans for another film adaptation of Niels Krause-Kjær's bestselling novels, Fandens forår, are already well underway, with Mikkel Serup as director and Nikolaj Arcel as screenwriter. Fandens forår is produced by Meta Film, with producers Sara Namer and Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl, and executive producer Meta Louise Foldager, while SF Studios will handle distribution across the Nordic region.
First look of Life on the Seacrow Island
Today, the the first pictures of Life on the Seacrow Island (Swedish title: Vi på Saltkråkan), produced by SF Studios, were released. The series will be released in Sweden on SVT and SVT Play in 2025.
