SF Studios has acquired the Nordic distribution rights to the awarded feature film The Zone of Interest. The film has received critical acclaim and won the prestigious Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film is directed by Jonathan Glazer starring Christian Frieder and Sandra Hüller in the leading roles. The film is produced by Extreme Emotions, Film4, House Productions and A24. SF Studios will distribute the film in the Nordics with a theatrical release in 2024.

The Zone of Interest tells the story of Rudolf Höss (Christian Frieder), a Nazi commandant who designed and built Auschwitz and his relationship with his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller), as they create their dream life directly next door to the concentration camp.

The Zone of Interest is loosely based on the 2014 novel by Martin Amis and a script by Jonathan Glazer, who also is directing the film. Glazer has previously directed acclaimed films such as Sexy Beast (2000), Birth (2004) and Under the Skin (2013).

“We are very excited and proud to launch this very important film in cinemas in early 2024. With Jonathan Glazer's visionary direction, a stellar cast and a thought-provoking story, we are sure that the film will find its audience in the Nordics”, says Robert Enmark, Head of International Acquisition at SF Studios.

The acquisition of the rights to The Zone of Interest is part of SF Studios’ strategy to produce and distribute commercial and high-quality films for a Nordic and international audience. Last year, SF Studios distributed Ruben Östlund's Palme d'Or-winner Triangle of Sadness in the Nordics with great success.

The Zone of Interest will have its theatrical release in the Nordics in 2024.
