Internationally acclaimed series Snabba Cash, produced by SF Studios in collaboration with Strive Stories, gets a second season

Today Netflix announced a second season for the hugely successful and critically acclaimed Swedish original series Snabba Cash starring Evin Ahmad in the leading role. Snabba Cash Season 2 will be written by Oskar Söderlund and directed by Jesper Ganslandt, who also are the creators and show runners behind the series. The series is produced by Nicklas Wikström Nicastro for SF Studios in collaboration with Strive Stories. Snabba Cash Season 2 will be released globally on Netflix in 2022.
After the dramatic end of the first season, the second season continues the thrilling story of Leya and her contrasting life between a ruthless start-up environment and Stockholm’s underworld.
Evin Ahmad (Dröm Vidare, Quicksand, The Rain), will once again play the leading role as Leya. The creators from Snabba Cash Season 1, director Jesper Ganslandt (Falkenberg Farewell, The Ape, 438 Days) and screenwriter Oskar Söderlund (The Fat and the Angry, Greyzone), will also continue with Season 2.
“With Snabba Cash Season 1 we wanted to tell a contemporary story. With characters that, though they commit morally doubtful acts, share the same feelings and dreams as many of us. We are overwhelmed that so many people have taken our series to their hearts. But the coolest thing of all is that a lot of people have felt they finally have been represented in a big drama series. The Netflix original series Snabba Cash is inspired by the internationally acclaimed book Snabba Cash by author Jens Lapidus, who has sold more than 3,8 million books worldwide. Snabba Cash has previously also been successfully adapted into three feature films, all produced by SF Studios.
Snabba Cash Season 2 is produced by Nicklas Wikström Nicastro (A Man Called Ove, The Lawyer) who also produced the first season for SF Studios.

SF Studios has besides the Netflix original series Snabba Cash also produced the first Swedish Netflix film Red Dot, that has been well received by international media and audiences and has just started the production for the first Danish Netflix film Loving Adults.

Today the Swedish Film Institute’s Oscar Committee revealed that Eagles of the Republic by Tarik Saleh is Sweden’s Submission for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. The 98th Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 15, 2026.

The political thriller starring Fares Fares, Lyna Khoudri and Zineb Triki is set in the powerful and glamorous Egyptian film industry, where the brightest shining star is drawn into the vicious undercurrent of deceit, corruption, and propaganda. Eagles of the Republic had its world premiere in the main section of the Cannes film festival earlier this year. In Toronto it will be screened in the Centrepiece section that honours and celebrates global cinematic achievements. The 50th edition of Toronto International Film Festival takes place between September 4-14, 2025. Eagles of the Republic is the third and final film in Tarik Saleh's Cairo trilogy after successful The Nile Hilton Incident (Grand Jury Prize award, Sundance 2017) and Cairo Conspiracy aka Boy from Heaven (Best Screenplay, Cannes 2022). SF Studios and REinvent International Sales release trailer for anticipated Brightly Shining
Today, SF Studios and REinvent International Sales release the trailer for the Norwegian Christmas feature film Brightly Shining, based on Ingvild Rishøi's critically acclaimed and bestselling novel of the same name. Today at the film festival in Cannes, it is announced that SF Studios boards Bloody Men (Swedish title: Jävla karlar) as Nordic distributor. The award-winning novel will be transferred to the screen by director Jens Sjögren and screenwriter Jakob Beckman. SF Studios’ new Danish comedy production OFFROAD starts shooting in Tenerife
The team behind the new Danish comedy OFFROAD has headed south to Tenerife to begin filming with a star-studded cast. Alongside the lead trio – Sofie Jo Kaufmanas, Julie Rudbæk, and Katinka Lærke Petersen – playing the roles of friends Maggie, Eva, and Stine, the cast also includes Ulrich Thomsen, Rasmus Bjerg, Rasmus Botoft, and Jesper Groth. OFFROAD is directed by Rasmus Heide, written by Rasmus Heide and Sara Ejersbo, and produced by SF Studios. The film is expected to premiere in cinemas during the autumn break of 2026.
SF Studios announces the Final Installment in the Nelly Rapp Trilogy, Premiering in 2026
SF Studios has now announced that the third and final film of the popular Nelly Rapp trilogy, based on Martin Widmark’s beloved books, will premiere in 2026. Nelly Rapp – The Gate to the Underworld picks up where the previous film left off, once again following Matilda Gross as the popular monster agent. Johan Rosell returns as director, with a screenplay by Sofie and Tove Forsman. Jonathan Ridings and Niklas Larsson are producing for SF Studios, which is also distributing the film. Filming is set to begin in October 2025, and audiences can look forward to its theatrical release in 2026. REinvent handles international sales.

SF Studios receives six Jussi Award nominations
Today the nominations for the Finnish Jussi Awards were announced. SF Studios distribution titles received a total of six nominations for The Missile (Finnish title: Ohjus, released February 2) and Butterflies (Finnish title: Perhoset, released September 27 with the former receiving a Best Film nomination. The award ceremony will take place on March 21. The Jussi Awards are presented by the Filmiaura Association. Filmiaura’s over 600 members consist of film makers, film distributors, film journalists, cinema operators and other professionals working with Finnish film.
