We are happy to share that SF Studios' Danish action thriller series Oxen will be screened at the Berlinale Series Market, having already reached impressive audience figures on Danish television. The six-part series is based on the international bestseller book series Oxen by Jens Henrik Jensen. The series is directed by Jannik Johansen and produced by SF Studios with producers Senia Dremstrup and Michel Schønnemann with SquareOne Productions co-producing for TV2 and ZDF. REinvent handles international sales.

Oxen tells the story of veteran Niels Oxen, a former special forces soldier struggling with his inner demons, who is drawn into a series of gruesome murders linked to a shadowy cabal of powerful Danes.

Approximately 1.3 million viewers on average watched the six episodes that have been broadcast on the Danish channel TV 2 since the end of October, making Oxen one of the most successful series on Danish television. The German version will be broadcast on ZDF.

Oxen is created by three times Emmy Award winners Mai Brostrøm and Peter Thorsboe (Unit One; The Eagle; The Protectors) and is directed by Jannik Johansen (Borgen, 2011; Follow the Money, 2016). The series is a co-production between SF Studios and SquareOne Productions for TV 2 Denmark and ZDF Germany with support from Nordic Film & TV Fund, Creative Europe, West Danish Film Fund, Frederikshavns Kommune and Film Estonia tax scheme. REinvent handles for international sales.

About the series
Niels Oxen is Denmark's most decorated war hero. But during the fallout of the controversial death of his best friend in a military operation in Mali, he is framed on drug charges. Oxen is dishonorably discharged from the service and withdraws into the forest in complete isolation. But when the forest's owner, the wealthy and influential Hans-Otto Corfitzen, is found dead, Oxen is the prime suspect. Frigg Mossman, head of the Danish security and secret service, believes in his innocence and assigns Oxen to undercover investigations against her own organization. Oxen soon finds himself in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.

The leading role of the eponymous Niels Oxen is played by Jacob Lohmann (Shorta, 2020). He is joined by Ellen Hillingsø (The Bridge, 2011), Josephine Park (The Investigation, 2020) and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (Borgen, 2022), as well as German-speaking actors Reinout Scholten van Aschat (Sea of Time, 2021), Luise Befort (The Palace, 2021) and Julie Burkhardt (Letzte Spur Berlin, 2020).
