18 July 2024

SF Studios and Warner Bros Discovery have signed a new content partnership agreement that gives WBD’s streaming service Max´s subscribers in the Nordics the opportunity to be the first to stream SF Studios’ local and international distribution titles, after the films have been shown at the cinema and offered as purchase and rental films.

The new agreement gives SF Studios additional opportunities to invest in Nordic productions, create great exposure for the films by reaching more viewers with Max streaming service in the Nordics.

The deal includes upcoming local titles like Tarik Saleh´s political thriller Eagles of the Republic starring Fares Fares, the first entry in a planned trilogy and action thriller called The Nation´s Gambit (Original title: En nasjon I sjakk) based on Norwegian author Johan Høst’s successful crime novel, and Mikkel Serup´s Kingmaker (Original title: Mørkeland) - the sequel to the massively popular and award-winning Danish film Kongekabale from 2004. Buzzy international titles such as The Zone of Interest, Horizon – An American Saga, Emilia Perez and Den of Thieves 2 – Pantera will also be included in the deal starting from mid-July.

“We are very pleased to expand our collaboration with Warner Bros Discovery’s Max to include the distribution of our Nordic and international films. It is both exciting and encouraging to see our films premiere on Max. First up is The Zone of Interest, launching in July, followed by several interesting Nordic and international titles”, says Lars Wannebo, EVP Acquisition & Distribution, SF Studios.

“We are delighted with the agreement that gives us the possibility to offer SF Studios’ high-quality local and international content to our Nordic viewers. This deal compliments our world-class content offer on our newly launched, enhanced streaming service Max”, says Ragnhild Thorbech, SVP Programming & Acquisitions, Warner Bros. Discovery.

The collaboration is an important step in SF Studios’ strategy to expand its licensing and distribution business in the Nordics and at the same time offer a strong line-up of Nordic and international films to consumers in the Nordic marketplace.
