CysteMfailure is about the cancer cell Kaja that sets out on a journey inside the body. A story about how we choose to live together, and about how we take care of the world we live in. This is a pleasant film about cancer, death and the end of the world!

"It has been a year-long dream that is now coming true when, with this support from NFI, I get the opportunity to make a fully animated feature film for the whole family. The story about the little cancer cell Kaja, who leaves the cyst and embarks on a fantastic journey in the body, I hope will offer large doses of both excitement, humor and warmth", says director Martin Lund.

Both as a writer and a director, Lund has shown that he is one of our leading creators of stories targeting a young audience. He made his feature film debut with Twigson Ties the Knot (2010), which became the most watched Twigson-film and one of the most watched children's films in recent Norwegian film history. He has both written and directed The Almost Man (2012), The Games (2013-2014), Match (2018) and Psychobitch (2019). In the latter, he won the Amanda Award for best screenplay and children's film of the year. Both The Almost Man, The Games and Psychobitch have been nominated and won awards at international festivals such as Karlovy Vary, Premiers Plans d`Angers, Filmfest Hamburg, Artekino and Prix Jeunesse.

“Disney and Pixar masterfully manage to take us on journeys that are entertaining and fun, but also educational and deeply moving. Several of them are among my favorite films to this day. This is my ambition with CysteMfailure: I want to make a fantastic animated film for the whole family!”, concludes Lund.

The script for CysteMfailure was written by Martin Lund and Thorkild Schrumpf, who have previously collaborated on the series The Games and Match.

CysteMfailure is produced by the award-winning Norwegian producers Ruben Thorkildsen (Psychobitch) and Frederick Howard (Tre nötter til Askepott, Viking School) at Storm Films, and yesterday the film received support from the Norwegian Film Institute. Thorkildsen and Lund have a long collaboration behind them, and Thorkildsen has produced all of Lund's previous series and films.
