Today SF Studios announced Forever, a new Swedish youth film about friendship, love and football dreams, directed by award-winning director Anders Hazelius (Tunna blå linjen, Thunder in My Heart). The film is based on a script by Jessika Jankert (So Damn Easy Going) and produced by Stefan H. Lindén (Eagles) and Erik Lundqvist (Pink Cloud Syndrome) for SF Studios. The film stars the debuting actors Flutra Cela and Judith Sigfridsson in the leading roles as 14-year-old best friends and aspiring football professionals. The cast also includes Agnes Lindström Bolmgren (The Cake General), Guldbagge-nominated Mustapha Aarab (Vinterviken) and Eleftheria Gerofoka (Call Mom!). The film will start production in Uddevalla, Sweden, in June 2022 and is expected to be released in Swedish cinemas in spring 2023.

Mila (Flutra Cela) and Kia (Judith Sigfridsson) have been best friends and teammates for as long as they can remember. When the girls get a new demanding football coach Lollo (Agnes Lindström Bolmgren), they slowly start to drift apart. Mila, who dreams of becoming a professional football player and play at Gothia Cup, finally sees her chance to succeed - but is it worth sacrificing her best friend to succeed at any cost?

Forever is based on a script by screenwriter Jessika Jankert (So Damn Easy Going) and addresses how two young friends strive to save their friendship while coming to terms with their own identities and dreams. The acclaimed Swedish director Anders Hazelius will direct the film. He has previously directed the award-winning TV series Tunna Blå Linjen (2021) and Thunder in My Heart (2021).

“For seven years I have wanted to make this film. It comes straight from the heart and is a declaration of love to be a 14-year-old with big dreams. Forever will be a thrilling, heartbreaking and beautiful story about the challenges of having to know who you are and want to be at a young age and the sacrifices you need to make to follow your dreams”, says Anders Hazelius, director.

Forever is produced by SF Studios with producer Stefan H. Lindén, who has previously created and produced the successful Swedish youth series Eagles, and Erik Lundqvist. The film is co-produced with Film i Väst and with the support from The Swedish Film Institute and Lindholmen Science Park. Gothia Cup, the world’s biggest youth football cup, has also partnered with SF Studios to support the dreams and ambitions of young football girls.

Forever is an emotional and gripping journey through time. It's about identity, friendship, love and daring to continue dreaming when others around us stop dreaming. We want to make a film that touches the audience with a story that everyone can relate to, while at the same time create the most beautiful football film ever made in Sweden. With our fantastic screenwriter Jessika Jankert, incredibly talented director Anders Hazelius and two future stars in Flutra and Judith, I can’t wait to start shooting Forever”, says Stefan H. Lindén, producer at SF Studios.

The shooting will take place in Uddevalla, in the western part of Sweden, in June 2022. To create an authentic story extensive research has been done, interviewing women professional football players.

The film is distributed by SF Studios and will be released in cinemas in Sweden in spring 2023.
