The children feature film Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent has been nominated for a Generation Kplus Crystal Bear Award at Berlinale 2021. The award celebrates achievements in film for young audiences. The film is directed by Amanda Adolfsson and produced by SF Studios with producers Jon Nohrstedt and Niklas Larsson and with rising star 11-year old Matilda Gross in the leading role.

Today it was announced that SF Studios’ feature film Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent has been selected to compete in the Generation Kplus section at Berlinale 2021 and will compete for a Crystal Bear. With a comprehensive programme of contemporary films exploring the lives and worlds of children and teenagers, Berlinale Generation every year awards convention-breaking young people’s cinema.

Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent is produced by SF Studios producers Jon Nohrstedt (Borg vs. McEnroe, Bamse trilogy), who won the Gullspira Children’s Film Award at the Swedish Guldbagge Awards in 2021 for his contributions to Swedish children’s film, and Niklas Larsson (Red Dot, Alex, Saga’s Stories). The film is directed by Amanda Adolfsson (Young Sophie Bell, Eagles).  Sofie Forsman (Bamse and the Witch’s Daughter) has written the script based on the popular novels by Martin Widmark with illustrations by Christina Alvner. The film has been a box office success since its Swedish theatrical release in October 2020 and received two Swedish Guldbagge awards for Best Make Up and Best Costume Design. The film was nominated for a total of 5 nominations.

”I am so happy and proud that the film will be shown at the Berlin Film Festival! I love this festival and appreciate that it also focuses on films for children and teenagers. It will be so exciting to see how the film will be received by young audiences!”, says Amanda Adolfsson, director.

”We are so happy that Nelly Rapp – Monster Agent has been nominated for the Berlinale Generation Kplus Crystal Bear. It is a film that should take its young audience into a world that feels completely new and exciting, a universe that no one has seen before. The success of this film is the result of strong teamwork, great performances of the cast and crew members and a brilliant director”, says Jon Nohrstedt and Niklas Larsson, producers at SF Studios.

The film stars young talent Matilda Gross, making her film debut in the leading role as Nelly Rapp. The cast also includes the renowned Swedish actors Johan Rheborg, Björn Gustafsson, Lily Wahlsteen and Marianne Mörck, who received a Guldbagge nomination for Best supporting actress in 2021.

SF Studios has a long history of producing popular and acclaimed children’s films and TV series. Among the previous SF Studios films that have competed in Berlinale are Astrid Lindgren’s The Brothers Lionheart in 1978 and Ronia the Robber’s Daughter in 1985. Recent productions include JerryMaya’s Detective Agency – The secret of the Train Robber, Pelle No-Tail, the Bamse trilogy and Saga’s Stories.

SF Studios distributes the film in the Nordics and REinvent International Sales handles worldwide sales.
