SF Studios has acquired the Nordic distribution rights to Ruben Östlund’s new film Triangle of Sadness
It was announced today that SF Studios will distribute award-winning director Ruben Östlund’s new feature film Triangle of Sadness, a contemporary satire taking place in the world of fashion. The story is set on a luxury yacht and ends up on a deserted island where hierarchies are turned upside down. The film is directed and scripted by Ruben Östlund (The Square, Force Majeure) and produced by Erik Hemmendorff at Plattform Produktion.
Ruben Östlund is currently planning his most ambitious feature ever. The film has a budget of approx. 10 million Euros and it will be his first English-language film.
“Triangle of Sadness is an existential candy-bag; reflecting, provocative and entertaining. The bar is as usual set high and we are currently planning the wildest scene ever in the history of film. On a luxury yacht, in a storm, passengers are struggling with sea sickness and table etiquette during a captain’s dinner. A really nasty dish will be served”, says Ruben Östlund.

SF Studios and Ruben Östlund have previously worked together on the features Involuntary (2008) and Play (2011). Both films were produced by Plattform Produktion and distributed by SF Studios. For the latter, Ruben Östlund won his first Swedish film award “Guldbagge” in the Best Director category.
Triangle of Sadness is produced by Plattform Produktion in co-production with Film i Väst, SVT, Coproduction Office Aps, Arte France and Arte/ZDF and with support from the Swedish Film Institute. World sales is handled by Philippe Bober Coproduction Office. Triangle of Sadness is expected to be released in 2021.
