SF Studios produced Evil premieres at Way Out West

SF Studios produced TV4 original series Evil (Swedish title: Ondskan) premiered today at Way Out West, the yearly music and film festival in Gothenburg, Sweden. The first episode of the six episode series was presented followed by a Q&A with director Erik Leijonborg, leading actor Isac Calmroth and actors Alexander Gustavsson and Christian Fandango. The Swedish series is based on Jan Guillou's classic bestseller Evil with a script written by Fredrik T Olsson and Daniel Di Grado as co-director. The stellar cast also includes Thea Sofie Loch Naess, Gustaf Skarsgård, Ruth Vega Fernandez, Jens Hultén, Saga Sarkola and Simon Norrthon. The series will be released on TV4 Play on November 7 followed by a release on TV4 on November 16.
The plot revolves around 16-year-old Erik (Isac Calmroth) who is used to violence, both at home and in school. When he is expelled from his school in Stockholm due to his violent behavior, he is transferred to the boarding school Stjernsberg. This is Erik's last chance to continue his schooling and break with his previous life. But at Stjernsberg, the violence is worse than at home. There, evil is put in a system, disguised as "peer education” of the younger students that is sanctioned by the school.
As Erik initiates a forbidden love relationship with the kitchen staff Marja (Thea Sofie Loch Naess) at the boarding school he is challenged in many ways and faces the risk of expulsion. Can he stop generations of violence and choose another path?
