Trailer launch for Lukas Moodysson and Memfis Film’s Together 99

20 June 2023

Swedish theatrical release set for October 13 through SF Studios

Today sees the launch of the first trailer for Lukas Moodysson's and Memfis Film's upcoming new feature film Together 99, a follow up to Moodysson’s hit Together, released in 2000, a huge success with audiences and critics around the world. SF Studios will release the film in Sweden on October 13. REinvent will sell the film internationally.

Together 99 tells the story of a group of very different individuals who in 1975 lived in a commune called “Together”. Now it is 1999, 24 years later, and the collective has turned into the world's smallest. The commune consists of only two people - Göran and Klasse. Feeling a bit lonely, the idea of a reunion with their old friends comes up and Klasse decides to surprise Göran on his birthday…

Together 99 is produced by Memfis Film with producers Lars Jönsson and Anna Carlsten, in co-production with Film i Väst, SF Studios and Zentropa Entertainments, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, Det Danske Filminstitut and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. SF Studios will distribute the film in the Nordics and REinvent handles international sales.

Lukas Moodysson commented, “This is a film about the passing of time and life. My hope is that it will speak straight to the heart of those who reflect on what they’ve made of their lives, whether good or bad, and how to move forward from there. I think it’s a comedy and a tragedy… but with a happy ending, in the sense that doors have been opened and that there are possibilities and opportunities.”

"We are incredibly proud to present Lukas Moodysson’s Together 99 to the international market. Lukas has succeeded in making a hilarious and warmhearted follow up to the worldwide success Together. I have no doubt that the film will touch and entertain global audiences and the interest from international buyers shows that Lukas’s film is more relevant than ever”, says REinvent CEO Rikke Ennis.

“It is with great pride SF Studios takes this heartwarming, fun and excellently executed film to the Nordic cinemas. The reunion of Lukas Moodysson's loveable charaters gives the audience once again a great cinema experience”, says Yaba Holst, Head of Nordic Acquisition SF Studios.

The film is written and directed by award-winning director Lukas Moodysson, who has made iconic films as Show Me Love (1998), Together (2000), Lilya 4-ever (2002), the international film Mammoth (2009) and We Are the Best! (2013). Recently Moodysson has directed the series Gösta (2019) for HBO.

Gustaf Hammarsten returns in the role as Göran, the sweet-hearted, conflict-avoiding character that the commune used to center around, and Shanti Roney plays his friend Klasse. Also back in their roles from Together are Anja Lundqvist, Olle Sarri, Jessica Liedberg, Lisa Lindgren, Cecilia Frode, Lars Frode, Henrik Lundström and Sten Ljunggren. Also invited to the reunion are the new cast members David Dencik, Jonas Karlsson, Clara Christiansson Drake and Julia Heveus.
