Yesterday the iconic Swedish actress Gunnel Lindblom passed away, 89 years old. Lindblom’s contribution Swedish film and theatre as both director and actress has been invaluable. She made her film debut in the SF Studios production Kärlek (1952) by Gustaf Molander and would thereafter become a star in Ingmar Bergman films such as The Seventh Seal (1957), The Virgin Spring (1960) and The Silence (1960), the latter for which she is perhaps most famous for. Interested in getting more creatively involved, Lindblom made her directing debut with Paradistorg (1977), produced by SF Studios. Lindblom will be thoroughly missed.
