Liv Ullmann receives honorary Oscar

Internationally acclaimed Norwegian actress Liv Ullman received an honorary Oscar at the 94th Academy Awards this weekend. She is the first Norwegian ever to receive this award. Liv Ullman has previously worked with SF Studios on many acclaimed Ingmar Bergman films, such as Persona (1966) and Hour of the Wolf (1968). She has previously been Oscar nominated for her role as Kristina in Jan Troell’s The Emigrants (1973) and Face to Face (1976). Actors Samuel L Jackson and Danny Glover and director/screenwriter Elaine May also received honorary Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards.
SF Studios’ distribution titles Dune, King Richard and No Time to Die also received a total of 8 awards at the 94th Academy Awards yesterday.
The top winner of the gala with six statues in the crafts categories was Dune (Warner Bros.) for cinematography (Greig Fraser), editing (Joe Walker), score (Hans Zimmer), visual effects (Paul Lambert, Tristan Myles, Brian Connor and Gerd Nefzer), production design (Patrice Vermette; set decoration: Zsuzsanna Sipos) and sound (Mac Ruth, Mark Mangini, Theo Green, Doug Hemphill and Ron Bartlett).
King Richard (Warner Bros.) also won for Best Actor (Will Smith) and No Time to Die (MGM) for Best original song (“No Time to Die” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell). SF Studios handles theatrical distribution and physical home entertainment releases for Warner Bros and MGM.
Looking back, SF Studios has in total won three Academy Awards for our productions: Best foreign language film for The Virgin Spring (1960) and Through a Glass Darkly (1961), and Best Short Subject for Symphony of a City (1947).
