Production underway on Rocky The Troll with lead cast revealed for new Norwegian family film
A new Norwegian family adventure is taking place in the dramatic landscape between Dovre and Trollheimen. From Motion Blur, part of SF Studios, and the team behind Troll and Troll 2, Rocky The Troll brings a fresh take on Nordic troll mythology. Filming is currently underway in the capitol of trolls, Oppdal, Norway.
Following the global success of Troll and Troll 2 on Netflix, the team now turns to a new standalone story. Helena Horge-Trømborg stars as 12-year-old Gaia, alongside Iben Akerlie (Vikingane, Make It Mix, Project Z), Benjamin Helstad (Ragnarok, Rådebank, King of Devil’s Island) and John Emil Jørgensrud (Milf of Norway, Pørni, Luka and The Magical Theater).
Producers Espen Horn and Terje Strømstad comment: “We’re delighted to have Iben, Benjamin and John Emil on board, and to introduce Helena in the lead role. Rocky The Troll is an emotional adventure we believe will resonate with a wide audience – a Norwegian take on E.T., with a living, breathing troll at its heart.”
The film is directed by Andrea Eckerbom, an award-winning filmmaker with extensive experience across film, TV and commercials. Sales agent is Reinvent Yellow Sales. Rocky The Troll will premiere in Norwegian cinemas autumn 2027.
